The Unspoken

The Unspoken

By: Thomas Fahy
Simon Pulse
2008

When six children escaped the religious cult they grew up in, by burning it to the ground, a prediction was made that each would die within five years by their worst fear. Sure enough, five years later the first of the group drowns, and one by one their worst fears start killing them off.

The only way to put an end to the horror is to get to the root of the curse--and what they discover challenges everything they have ever believed. . . .

Carzz's Review

Ok, so I loved this book! So, felicitations to Thomas Fahy.
One of the things that was nice about this book, was that it always kept you guessing (a serious problem with a lot of books now-a-days). I also loved the twist at the end, it made me want to shake the author by the arms so he would write a second. I'm not sure if there is going to be a second, but if there is, you will sure be able to find it on our reviews list.
It's a quick, easy, and very brilliant read. I recommend it for anyone who hasn't anything else to do, it will keep you very entertained!

The door that was always closed is opening, and I am consumed. I don't know if a full minute goes by that I don't think of him, that I don't replay how it felt to have his hand brush mine, his eyes look my way.
And yet he's hiding, still. He talks as if my feelings for him are in the past, as if they couldn't possibly be relevant now that I know the truth about him. But I don't have that kind of power over how I feel. And if he doesn't know that, he's blind.

SHE WANTS HIIM. . . .
Zin dances with fire in every step, speaks in a honey-sweet voice, and sees with eyes that can peer into your soul. Nicole's friendship with him is the only thing that saves her from the boredom of school and the turmoil of her family life. It's no wonder she is madly in love with him. But she can't understand why he keeps her at a distance, even though she can feel his soul reaching out for hers.
Zin is like no man Nicole has ever met, and he carries with him a very old secret. When Nicole uncovers the truth, her love may be the only thing that can save him from it.

Carzz's Review

Okay, everyone, this seriously, is a great book. It has everything a good book needs to have. Allison Van Diepen did a great job, and i really hope she makes this book into a series.
If you haven't read this, and are looking for a good, easy read that will keep you entertained from cover to cover, then this here, is the book for you (unless you only like biographies, lol). It has a great story line, and has good humor.
If you have read it, then you know what I'm talking about and good for you.☺

The Chosen

The Chosen
Chaim Potok
1967

Here is a classic novel about the unlikely friendship that develops between two boys in 1940s Brooklyn. Reuven Malther is a secular Jew with an intellectual, Zionist father; Danny Saunders is the brilliant son and rightful heir to a Hasidic rebbe. Together they navigate the emotional terrain of adolescence and the demands of family, and a crisis of faith when stories of the Holocaust begin to emerge on the shores of America. The Chosen is a profound, deeply moving story of fathers and sons . . . and of the enduring power of love.

-Hayz's Review-
I had to read this book for school, and I was so mad when my teacher assigned us this book, because until half way through the book I hated it! Then I finally realized that "Hey, this book isn't so bad." So I finished it and I really liked it. The meaning behind the story was really good, and I made me think about my past, I became really good friends with one of my enemies once.

Carzz's Review
I really think it is super funny that Hayz could enjoy this book, while I wanted to rip it to pieces and then burn those pieces.
I felt this book lacked a lot of things that books need in order to make them half way decent.
Personally, I wouldn't ever recommend this book to anyone, I'm not one who is big on torture by books, but if you are feeling masochistic (the act of turning one's destructive tendencies inward or upon oneself) any time soon, then by all means, go ahead and read it. =)

The Fortunes of Indigo Skye

The Fortunes of Indigo Skye
Deb Caletti
2008

I suddenly see where I'm standing, and that's at the edge of change--really, really big change.

Eighteen-year-old Indigo Skye feels like she has it all--a waitress job she loves, an adorable refrigerator-delivery-guy boyfriend, and a home life that's slightly crazed but rich in love. Until a mysterious man at the restaurant leaves her a 2.5-,million-dollar tip, and her life as she knew it is transformed.
At first it's amazing: a hot new car, enormous flat-screen TV, and presents for everyone she cares about. She laughs off the warnings that money changes people, that they come to rely on what they have instead of who they are. Because it won't happen . . . not to her. Or will it? What do you do when you can buy anything your heart desires--but what your heart desires can't be bought?
This is the story of a girl who gets rich, gets lost, and ultimately finds her way back--if not to where she started, then to where she can start again.

-Hayz's Review-
I did not like this book at all, I didn't even finish it, after 90 pages or so something needs to happen. But nothing did, so I stopped reading it. So I don't have anything to say about this book.

Carzz's Review
Okay, so Eternal was a decent book. I thought it had a strong beginning, and a great story line. It kept me entertained through out the whole book. However, I will say this, if you don't like reading books with a bad ending, then I do not recommend this book.
Once I finished the book, I was horrified that the author could possibly be okay with that ending, and lets just say, that is why I wouldn't go see it if it were to become a movie.

I liked this book because it kept me amused while I was reading it, and at some points I didn't want to put it down, but then the ending came. OMG! The ending totally ruined the whole book, I mean what the hell kind of an ending was that? Its like she didn't even give Zachary a chance, she was like "Ok, kill me!" So ya, the ending was just dumb! Bailey Morgan isn't the type of girl who shows a lot of skin, but somehow, she ends up in a dressing room at the mall with her friend Delia applying a strange temporary tattoo to the center of her lower back. Never one to suffer fashion doubt, trendsetter Delia knows exactly where she wants her own tattoo: on her stomach, right where her shirt ends--can you say "midriff"?Annabelle, the quiet one, chooses the back of her neck, and tomboy Zo plasters hers on the top of her foot. SOME NIGHTMARES NEVER END.

For Janie and Cabel, real life is getting tougher than the dreams. They're just trying to carve out a little (secret) time together, but no such luck.

Disturbing things are happening at Fieldridge High, yet nobody's talking. When Janie taps into a classmate's violent nightmares, the case finally breaks open--but nothing goes as planned. Not even close. Janie's in way over her head, and Cabe's shocking behavior has grave consequences for them both.

Worse yet, Janie learns the truth about herself and her ability--and it's bleak. Seriously, brutally bleak. Not only is her fate as a dream catcher sealed, but what's to come is way darker than she'd feared. . . .

* * *

Janie concentrates and squeezes her hands into fists, pumping them before they become numb, focusing on pausing the dream. It's slowing, and Janie tries to turn to look at the man. But the dream speeds up again. She can't do them both at once. Janie concentrates again on pausing the scene, and she knows her power is limited. One brad push of energy and the scene slows and stops. She stays perfectly focused, turns slowly, evenly. Sees the look of horror on the girl's face, sees the man's hands around her neck, his arms, and then slowly, slowly, turns to see the face of the man. . . .

-Hayz's Review-
This book was super good! I love the Dream Catcher series! They are really good and easy reads, I can pick this book up and finish it in a night, which I love! If you have read this book, or the first one, Wake, then you are truly missing out!

If you had met me a few weeks ago, you probably would have described me as an average teenage girl--someone normal. Now my life has changed forever and I'm as far away from normal as it gets. A living science experiment--not only can I see ghosts, but I was genetically altered by a sinister organization called the Edison Group. What does that mean? For starters, I'm a teenager necromancer whose powers are out of control; I raise the dead without even trying. Trust me, that is not a power you want to have. Ever.
Now I'm running for my life with three of my spernatural frinds--a charming sorcerer, a cynical werewolf, and a disgrunted witch--and we have to find som one who can help us before the Edison Group finds us first. Or die trying.

WHAT IF THE HOTTEST GUY IN THE
WORLD WAS HIDING A NAMELESS EVIL,

I stopped cold. Something about this dream didn't seem right.
"You hesitate, my love?"
At the sound of Kalona's voice, a shiver passed through my body and terrible, mocking laughter whispered through the leaves of the trees.

AT THE START OF THIS HEART-POUNDING new installment in the bestselling House of Night series, Zoey's friends have her back again and Stevie Rae and the red fledglings aren't Neferet's secrets any longer. Kalona is gorgeous, and he has the House of Night under his spell. A past life holds the key to breaking his rapidly spreading influence, but what if this past life unearths secrets Zoey doesn't want to see and truths she can't face?
On the run and holed up in Tulsa's Prohibition-ear tunnels, Zoey and her gang must discover a way to deal with something that might bring them all down. Meanwhile, Zoey has a few other little problems. The red fledglings have cleaned up well -they've even managed to make the dark, creepy tunnels feel more like home -but are they really as friendly as they seem? On the boyfriend front, Zoey has a chance to make things right with super-hot ex, Eric, but she can't sop thinking about Stark, the archer who died in her arms after one unforgettable niht, and she is driven to try to save him from Neferet's sinister influence at all costs. Will anyone believe the power evil has to hide among us?

Hunted, the fifth book in the House of Night novels was a great book. It wasn't my favorite book out of the five, but it is still an awesome book!!!
I think I read this book in just two or three days, it kept me up late, and got me up early. It is defiantly one of those books where you just have to know what is going to happen. Along with the other four, this book has it all, and I can hardly wait for the next!!!

Even in that sterile room beneath Washington, D.C., I could almost feel the hot humid night last September. I could almost hear he band and smell the corn dogs.
My stomach growled as I said, "Yes."
Polygraph Guy made precise notes and studied the bank of monitors that surrounded him. "Is that when you first noticed The Subject?"
Here's the think about being a spy in love: your boyfriend never has a name. People like Polygraph Guy were never just going to call him Josh. He would always be The Subjects, a person of interest. Taking away his name was their way of taking him away, or what was left oh him.
"And you utilized your training to develop a relationship with The Subject?"
"Gee, when you say it like that--"
"Yes or no, Mrs.--"
"Yes!"
