Girl v. Boy

Girl v. Boy
Yvonne Collins & Sandy Rideout
2008

Luisa Perez is not looking to
win any awards for school spirit.

In fact, she and her friends proudly avoid all things "extracurricular." But, unlike her high-school dropout sister, Luisa does want to go to college, and it would be nice to have something to put on her applications. Sh when a teacher volunteers her to be an anonymous columnist for the school paper, Luisa gives it a try.
Her first assignment is to cover her school's latest fund-raiser, which pits the girls against the boys. Luisa will cover the events from the female point of view, while another anonymous writer provides the male perspective--or, at least, that's how it begins. The two columnists soon find themselves engaged in an epic battle of the sexes--a battle that Luisa is determined to win, even if it means risking the best relationship she's ever had.

Carzz's Review
I was way excited to read this book, utterly so. (I even made Hayz's buy it) However, I found it to be somewhat slow. It wasn't quite as I thought. Still a good book, and good ending. It's a great read, super easy, and funny.

Austenland

Austenland
Shannon Hale
2007

For the woman with everything except a Mr. Darcy of her own,

~An invitation to~
Austenland

Pembrook Park, Kent, England. Enter our doors as a house guest come to stay three weeks, enjoying the country manners and hospitality--a tea visit, a dance or two, a turn in the park, an unexpected meeting with a certain gentleman, all culminating with a ball and perhaps something more...

Here, the Prince Regent still rules a carefree England. No scripts. No written endings.
A holiday no one else can offer you.

* * *
Jane Hayes is a seemingly normal young New Yorker, but she has a secret. Her obsession with Mr. Darcy, as played by Colin Firth in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, is ruining her life. No real man can compare.
When a wealthy relative bequeaths her a trip to an English resort catering to Austen-crazed women, Jan's fantasies of meeting the perfect Regency-era gentleman suddenly become realer than she ever could have imagined. Decked out in empire-waist gowns, stripped of her modern appliances, Jan throws herself into mastering Regency etiquette and flirts with gardeners and gentlemen--or maybe even, she suspects, with the actors who are playing them.
It's all a game, Jane knows. And yet the longer she stays, the more her insecurities seem to vanish. Is she about to kick the Austen obsession for good, or could all her dreams actually culminate in s Mr. Darcy of her own?

-Hayz's Review-
Please save yourself the trouble and do not read this book. No offense to the author but seriously I couldn't even finish this book thats how much I did not like it.

The Trials of the Honorable F. Darcy

The Trials of the Honorable F. Darcy
Sara Angelini
2009

Their attraction is so hot,
it should be against the law. . .

Judge Fitzwilliam Darcy is terribly bored--ready to hang up his black robe and return to the life of a country gentleman--until he meets Elizabeth Bennet, a fresh-faced attorney with a hectic schedule and no time for the sexy but haughty judge. Sparks flay as the two match wits and battle their overwhelming attraction.

-Hayz's Review-
I really loved this book! It was so cute! but yet also heartbreaking! It was definitely a modern Pride and Prejudice! Sure somethings were way different but thats what made it so good! I highly suggest you read it! I read it in two days, and I will definitely be reading it again very soon!
Ya know why I liked this book so much? Because I love Pride and Prejudice, I just can't get enough of Lizzy and Darcy and how their hate becomes love. I liked this book so much because I was fun to read it in a modern way. To see how things are in a different time frame. How two people can be in love and yet be in so much pain because a stupid rule won't let be together. It just reminds me of our society today. And in the end we get to see how they get around it.

2009

A honeymoon can last a lifetime
"A book that addresses all the unanswered questions..."

Beginning on their wedding day, Pride and Prejudice's Darcy and Elizabeth are two people who are deeply in love with one another and are excited to begin their marriage.

Their courtship was tempestuous; misunderstandings and misgivings nearly tore them apart. But now that they've seen each other without prejudice, their trust, attraction, and delight in each other grows with every passing day. Both are inexperienced and innocent, sharing moments of shyness and boldness as they discover the kinds of intimacies that a newlywed couple shares.

As their love story unfolds, they reveal their innermost secrets and feelings, embracing each other in a marriage filled with romance, passion, humor, and drama that will keep you spellbound.

-Hayz's Review-
I liked it, so I give this book 3 stars. I definetely like it enough to read the second one. But somethings did bother me like: first how Lizzy called Darcy William. That really bothered me, and also Lizzy is super close with Jane and I feel like she wasn't even part of the book. I think I remember reading that she wrote her twice. However I really liked the book, every descriptive and fun! If you like to read about Darcy and Lizzy then you should so read this!

Blood Promise

Blood Promise

Razorbill
2009

Dimitri's heart has gone dark.

Now Rose must journey to the end of the earth
to find--and kill--her one true love. . .

Or has the time come to join him?

My heart shattered. My world shattered.
You will lose what you value most. . .
It wasn't my life. . . It wasn't even Dimitri's life.
What you value most.
It was his soul.

Bound by love,
but sworn to kill . . .
The world thought Dimitri was dead.
And to a certain extent, he was.
But I hadn't been able to forget a
conversation he and I had once had.
We'd both agreed that we'd rather be dead--
truly dead-- than walk the world as Strigoi.
It was time to honor our words.

Guardian Rose Hathaway's life will never be the same.
The recent attack on St. Cladimir's Academy devastated the entire Moroi world. Many are dead. And, for the few victims carried off by Strigoi, their fates are even worse. A rare tattoo now adorns Rose's neck; a mark that says she's killed far too many Strigoi to count.

But only one victim matter. . . Dimitri Belikov. Rose must now choose one of two very different paths: honoring her life's vow to protect Lissa--her best friend and the last surviving Dragomir princess--or, dropping out of the Academy to strike out on her own and hunt down the man she loves. She'll have to go to the ends of the earth to find Dimitri and keep the promise he begged her to make. But the question is, when the time comes, will her want to be saved?

Now, with everything at stake--and worlds away from St. Vladimir's and her unguarded, vulnerable, and newly rebellious best friend--can Rose find the strength to destroy Dimitri? Or, will she sacrifice herself for a chance at eternal love?

-Carzz's Review-
Great book. Just like the rest of the series, I read it in days. The worst part? When I turned the last page! How could it be over?! AHH! When does the next come out?! MUST READ!

Carzz's Review
It took me a while to get into this series. The first few chapters seemed to drag a bit. Once I got into some of the first action though, the book flew by and I counldn't wait to get my hands on the second (luckly my parents bought me the first four books of the series for Christmas). If you haven't read Vampire Academy yet, i suggest you do. =)

Carzz's Review
I really love this book series. It's unique, and got it's own style. However, this was by far my least favorite in the series. I don't like books that preach at me, and I could see some very strong religious parallels in this book (if you read in and didn't, well good for you). Also I didn't like how almost every chapter would change from one POV to a different POV. It really quite bothered me. Besides that, check it out.
