2009

IF YOU CAN'T TRUST YOUR BEST FRIEND
WITH YOUR DEEPEST, DARKEST SECRET,
WHO CAN YOU TRUST?

Zoey wasn't a moron. She knew something was wrong. That was obvious, but how could Stevie Rae even start to tell her? There was just so much to explain. He was just so much to explain. And she'd never meant for any of it to happen.

Dark secrets and unspoken suspicions come between Zoey and Stevie Rae, putting their friendship- and the House of Night- at risk.

After Zoey Redbird and her gang have banished Kalona and Neferet from Tusla, you'd think they'd catch a break. But with Zoey and her sexy warrior Stark both recovering from a brush with death, and the fledglings struggling to deal with the fallout from Nefret's reign of terror, a break is just not in the forecast. Zoey is haunted by her confusing yet elemental connection with A-ya, the ancient Cherokee maiden who was the only human able to tempt Kalona's body and soul. How will A-ya's pull on her affect Zoey's ability to resist the dangerously seductive immortal?
Meanwhile, Stevie Rae, with her super red-vamp powers, always thought she could handle stiff she's been keeping from her BFF. But the mysterious, threatening force lurking in the tunnels under the Tusla Depot is spreading. Stevie Rae won't confide where she's been and what she's doing, and Zoey is beginning to wonder just how much she can trust the person she always thought would have her back.
Will their choices destroy them and will the darkness consume the House of Night? Find out in the next spectacular installment in the bestselling House of Night series.

Carzz's Review
I really love this book series. It's unique, and got it's own style. However, this was by far my least favorite in the series. I don't like books that preach at me, and I could see some very strong religious parallels in this book (if you read in and didn't, well good for you). Also I didn't like how almost every chapter would change from one POV to a different POV. It really quite bothered me. Besides that, check it out.

2009

What if the person
you were meant to be with
could never be yours?

There's something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.
Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price's attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at Sword & Cross boarding school in Savannah. He's the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are screwups, and security cameras watch every move.
Except Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce--he goes out of his way to make that very clear. But she can't let it go. Draw to him like a moth to a flame, Luce has o find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret. . . even if it kills her.

Nightlight

Nightlight a parody
The Harvard Lampoon
2009

About three things I was absolutely certain.
First, Edwart was most likely my soul mate, maybe.
Second, there was a vampire part of him--which I assumed
was wildly out of his control-- that wanted me dead.
And third, I unconditionally, irrevocably, impenetrably, heterogeneously, gynecologically, and disreputably
wished he had kissed me.

And thus Belle Goose falls in love with the mysterious and sparkly Edwart Mullen in the Harvard Lampoon's hilarious send-up.

Pale and klutzy, Belle arrives in Switchblade, Oregon, looking for adventure, or at least an undead classmate. She soon discovers Edwart, a super-hot computer nerd with zero interest in girls. After witnessing a number of strange events--Edwart leaves his Tater Tots untouched at lunch! Edwart saves her from a flying snowball!--Belle has a dramatic revelation: Edwart is a vampire. But how can she convince Edwart to bite her and transform her into his eternal bride, especially when he seems to find girls so repulsive?

-Hayz's Review-
Wow. I thought this book was going to be a funny book that changed things from Twilight. But wow, no it was so stupid! It was a waste of my time. Not only did most of it not make sense and you had to read parts of it again, it was just ugh, lame. I give this book 1 star because I didn't like it. I highly suggest you don't read it! Or if you do, get it from the library or borrow it, you will waste your money if you buy it.

Muchacho

Muchacho
Louanne Johnson
2009

They should teach us the
stuff we really need to
learn--like how to make
somebody really love you,
and how to turn off that
little voice in your head
that tells you what a loser
you are, and how to
teach your dog to pee
where it's supposed to and
how to get over being
sad when your little
cousin dies, and how to talk
to your father
without both
of you getting
so mad.

Eddie Corazon is angry. He's also very smart. But he's working pretty hard at being a juvenile delinquent. He blows off school, even though he's a secret reader. He hangs with his cousins, who will always back him up--when they aren't in jail.
Then along comes Lupe, who makes Eddie's blood race. She sees things in Eddie he doesn't even see in himself. A hear, and a mind, and something more: a poet.
But in Eddie's world, it's a thin line between tragedy and glory. And what goes down is entirely in Eddie's hands.

-Hayz's Review-
I give this book 3 stars, because I liked it. I think everyone should read this book because in some places I could relate to what Eddie was saying. If there was one thing that I didn't like it was that in the book it said "Lupe said... Lupe said... Lupe said..." that got really boring to read. But other than that it was really good, just a cute book overall. I hope everyone reads this book, the best part was pages 82-85, it is so true.

The Vampire Is Just Not That Into You

The Vampire Is Just Not That Into You
Vlad Mezrich
2009

Are you in love with a vampire? Are you worried that you might not be his (blood) type? Do you wonder whether that cold stare means he isn’t interested . . . or if it’s because he’s been dead for three centuries (nothing personal)? Have you tried to coax him out of his crypt with a flash of your neck or a near-death situation that requires him to save you at the very last possible moment? Have you ever considered what it will be like to introduce him to your mother?

Even though your vampire’s skin is transfixingly translucent, he can still be very hard to read. Sometimes he’s simply holding back his true feelings, resisting the urge to bite you in the chance that one day you will truly love him. And other times . . . well, he’s just not that into you.

How can you tell? Undead dating specialist Vlad Mezrich has all the answers, utilizing quizzes, Top Ten lists, language analysis, real-life (and real-death) testimonials, and fancy charts to show you what you need to do in order to get your vampire and keep him forever. Once you go vamp, you never decamp – so let this eternally rewarding book show you the way to the vampire of your dreams.

-Hayz's Review-
I give this book 3 stars because I liked it. I thought it was funny, it made me laugh a lot at some of the stupid things we do for vampires. Lol. Um not much else to say, this book was more so of a guide then an actual book.
